Transfers
Miami International Airport is around 11 miles from the Miami Beach area and the transfer time between 20-30 minutes, subject to traffic conditions and the time of day. Transfers are readily available from the airport via airport shuttle, which cost approximately $15, or taxi, which usually costs around $20-25, depending on the location of your hotel. Alamo have a rental rental depot on-site at the airport if you choose to hire a car.
 
Getting around
To really explore Miami it is almost essential to hire a car. Although there is a Metro-rail service and monorail which affords good views of Miami, both are relatively slow and don't cover many points in the city. However, the South Beach Art Deco District does offer several excellent walking and cycling tours if you'd rather not drive.
