Transfers
The bay area has three airports, though the most frequently used is San Francisco International Airport, which is approximately 14 miles south of the city centre. The journey takes around 45-50 minutes by car, depending on traffic. A taxi will cost somewhere in the region of $40, but you may prefer to use a shuttle service or airport bus. These can be booked through most hotel concierges for approximately $12 per person.

Getting around
Driving in San Francisco is quite tricky due to the one-way streets, traffic, infamous gradients and lack of parking, but you shouldn't need to use the car much once your'e there. Walking is highly recommended as a way of getting around the city, if you don't mind the physical challenge. To give your legs a break from the hills, make use of the good public transport system of famous rattling cable cars, historic street cars, the underground light railway, buses and trolley buses operated by MUNI. It's worth buying a multi-day pass if you're staying in the city for a few days.
