Cuba exudes atmosphere – sun-bleached white beaches, impressive colonial architecture
and an infectious Latin rhythm complete the picture.
Making the most of Cuba

Cuba’s most popular beach resort,Varadero is home to a magnificent stretch of pristine white sand beach, more than 19km long and fringed with mangroves, palms and secluded thatched huts. Once colonised by the Spanish, Cuba is now an intruiging mix of cultures including African and South American. Snorkelling and diving are the most popular activities and a large colourful reef, rich in marine species, is set just a mile offshore.

If you want nothing more than to lie on the beach and indulge in watersports, then Varadero is for you. Varedero is Cuba’s most developed resort and there are plenty of activities on offer, such as cabarets, clubs, restaurants and golf.

Must sees

Varadero’s main attractions are the exquisite beaches, but if you want to explore, try a few of the intruiging caves in
the area or visit the nearby cities of Cárdenas and Matanzas, known for their art, history and culture.
Don’t forget for a day trip the vibrant sights and sounds of Havana are within easy reach.

Must buys

Cuban cigars and rum are popular souvenirs. If you want more lasting momentos, the craft markets are ideal for purchasing local goods.
Must tries

Typical Cuban dishes include fried sweet potatoes and ‘congris’, a mixture of rice and black beans. Try the fresh
fruit, including coconuts, mango and papaya, and wash it down with a famous Cuban ‘mojito’– a refreshing mix of
mint, syrup and local rum.
