Lush landscapes, dazzling white sand beaches, an abundance of watersports, and a fascinating culture – the birthplace of reggae has much to offer.
Making the most of the Jamaica

Jamaica has been called the ‘Island of Springs’and, with some 4,000 miles of lush landscape and vegetation, it’s not hard to see why the beautiful beaches on the north coast and the soaring peaks of the Blue Mountain coffee estate all add up to a recipe for a relaxing holiday.

Montego Bay is probably the most established resort, while Ocho Rios is both picturesque and lively. Negril lies on the west coast and is renowned for its sunsets and seven-mile stretch of white sandy beach.

Must sees

Climb to the top of cascading Dunn’s River Falls but tread carefully as the ground can get slippery. Take a trip around a plantation where Jamaica’s own Blue Mountain coffee grows and visit the lively capital, Kingston, with its museum devoted to Bob Marley, the father of reggae.

Montego Bay has some of the world’s best championship golf courses, and a raft ride down Martha Brae river past mango trees and vines is another must.

Must buys

Indulge in some retail therapy at the many craft markets and roadside stalls. Best buys include wood carvings,
paintings, pottery, beads and Blue Mountain coffee.
Must tries

Jamaican cooking is a miscellany of tastes, often combining Spanish, English, Chinese and African ingredients. Try fiery jerk meat, cooked slowly and seasoned with spices, or saltfish, a classic Jamaican breakfast blend of fruit and salted cod.

The local rum is also not to be missed. Drink it neat or try it mixed with local fruit juices in a cocktail. The most varied entertainment is found in hotels, although the rhythms of reggae and steel bands are never far away.

Prices start from £969 per person for a 7 night ultra all-inclusive holiday
