Positioned on the east bank of the
Nile and boasting natural, manmade wonders, stunning Aswan is a
vibrant yet tranquil city. Take in the superb sights at your own
leisurely pace, while soaking up the laid-back atmosphere and
beautiful surroundings. There's lots to see in Aswan. Hire a
felucca, a small sailing boat, to taxi you along the Nile, before
stopping off at Kitchener's Island's botanical gardens. The
tropical trees and flowering bushes are a stunning contrast to the
Sahara Desert. Be sure to see the High Dam, for which Aswan is
famous, and the artificial Lake Nasser, which stretches back 500
kilometres from the dam. The beautiful Kalabsha Temple was rebuilt
along the High Dam circuit in the 1970s, having originally stood in
an area which is now beneath the waters of the lake. The Temple of
Philae on nearby Agilqiyyah Island is found along with other
picturesque ruins. The temples at Abu Simbel are well worth a
visit. Book with Signature, and we'll help you fit in all these
sights, while also allowing you to relax and enjoy your holiday.
Don't miss the Nubian Museum, which is dedicated to the history and
culture of Nubia. It houses thousands of objects recovered from
tombs, temples and settlements which were submerged under the
rising waters of Lake Nasser.
