Hemmed by a tropical rainforest, the
crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches and abundance of marine
life all factor in making these shores amongst the most beautiful
in the world. To name but a few, the luxurious resort of Nyali, the
Watamu Marine National Park and the southern Diani Beach will
invite total relaxation. Soak up the rays on a lounger before going
for a dip in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Or, for some of
the best scuba diving in the world, plunge into the sea and explore
the offshore coral reefs, which are swarming with marine life.
Mingle with the locals in Fort Jesus. The World Heritage Site was
built in 1593 by the Portuguese and now contains an excellent
museum. The intricately carved East African architecture of
Mombasa's old town make this a fascinating place to wander round.
With numerous game reserves nearby, head out on a mini-safari break
to encounter wildlife including elephants, leopards and
giraffes.
Flight time from the UK
(London) Approximately 11 hours 30 minutes via
Nairobi.
