The Blue Train

Travel on the unmistakable Blue Train, world acclaimed for over 50 years. Now completely restored, its gleaming coaches offer unadulterated comfort and the perfect way to view the stunning landscapes.

One of the world's most famous, luxurious train journeys, undertaken by kings and presidents, this is a perfect accompaniment to any itinerary. Connecting your stay in Johannesburg to the Cape, the train's Cape Route helps you to see as much of this stunning country as possible. The Blue Train's gleaming carriages (5◊) have offered cosseted comfort for a maximum of 76 guests since 1946.

Expert chefs prepare all meals, which are served in the beautifully appointed Dining Car. With a wine list that has received the Annual Diner's Club Award of Approval several years running, and à la carte and vegetarian meals prepared with seasonal ingredients, dining is a luxurious experience. Meals and drinks on board are included.

There are two types of accommodation to choose from. All compartments are en suite with a Italian marble bathroom and have a chair and fold-down table, lounge chairs and ottoman, and a double-glazed panorama window.

Each boasts a television with a selection of channels including information about areas en route, individually controlled air-conditioning, in-room safe and hairdryers. The De Luxe compartments offer sumptuous twin or double accommodation with bath or shower and wc. The Luxury Suites are larger and also contain a compact disc player and video as well as a bath and wc.

Please note: the Blue Train will take reservations for children under 16 years of age by special request only.
